An Injured Knee II….

Agony is:

Having;
Wound dressing to do severally in a day
To think which foot goes forward first when starting to walk,
A can’t bend knee that put me in a can’t kneel, can’t squat situation
To sleep in a certain position
To walk with a limp no matter the attempt to walk upright…
All because of an injured badly hurting knee….

The wound seemed to be getting worse by the day and the pain accompanying it too much…but still I hoped and prayed it get well soonest without need to use any more medication besides the antiseptics…

From my history, wounds don’t go well with me and a slight scratch used to become quite sick and turn into a big wound which would take quite a while to heal…and I would need so many injections and medication in the process…Being told that my immune was quite low wasn’t bad enough…

As I’ve become a woman of faith, such are some of the things I’ve had to speak against. When one believes…everything is possible…God’s healing no matter what has been said in regard to a medical condition.

As I do this, it’s two(2) weeks since I got that accident on my knee, but with a praise report…My knee is healed…a scar may have been left behind, but it’s back to normal functioning…Praise Jesus!!

From that experience of having an injured knee…Oh how one takes for granted the normal functioning of body parts…it’s not until a part is out of order that one realizes just how bad it is to have to be somewhat disabled…

Remember to thank God for wholeness

A Knee Injury….

It was early in the morning as usual when I left the house, before 6a.m. Unlike other days, had to wait for a while before a public service vehicle came by heading to the city…it was already past 6a.m when a car came by, and along with other passengers, I boarded…It was a mini-bus of a freight I hadn’t traveled in before…but as long as it was going to town…it was o.k or so it seemed…since I couldn’t wait longer…

The drive to town turned to be a long journey as the car kept stopping at every existing and non-existing stage…talk of delay…

By the time we got to the city, it was way past my usual time…I was running late the minutes were passing real fast and I had another bus to take….!

As I was alighting from that bus to go to the next which was a few meters away, I encountered an accident…I stumbled , all effort to balance as to avoid the fall fruitless , before I knew it I was on the ground on my knee…supporting my self with one hand as I had my hand bag on the other! It happened so fast, I can’t just explain how…By the time I rose, my knee was hurting badly. Fortunately my clothes didn’t get dirtied given it was a wet morning, was in a short, black skirt and a  bright flowery blazer.  I didn’t however have the time to check on the extent of the injury…I felt such excruciating pain…but I had to hurry to the next bus else I’d get late to the office, and lateness s so unlike me….

It’s when in the bus for the next part of the journey that I got to examine the injury…My stockings were torn, and it wasn’t just another grazing, it appeared I had incurred quite a wound…

With the few wet wipes I had left, I cleaned the wounded area, but it wasn’t clean enough…I dabbed it with a hanky and looked forward to getting to the office to perform proper first Aid.

I got to the office in good time…but my knee was so hurting I walked with a limp…First things first, before even signing in for duty, the First Aider I am, had to do First Aid on me…Fortunately, the First  Aid kit in the office was well stocked with all necessary items from Antiseptic to all a variety of Bandages, I put into good usage what I needed…by the end of which, I was good to go…the pain was too much yes, but on way to recovery with  First Aid done on it…

That isn’t what you’d call a nice day’s start…that happened on Tuesday, 10th April…

Christmas Day 2011…How It Was For Me…

24th December 2011late afternoon found me on my way to the office. Well, there I was headed to work, while my mind was imagining what I would be missing in the evening…The Christmas Eve Experience 2011…hours was dragging by, and to make matters worse, I was down with terrible headache which seemed to be getting worse by the minute and was feeling quite sickly…How can I fall sickly on a whole Christmas Eve whereas I have been well all year through?? At some point, I took a break, to pray that I get well, as to make it through the night. He’s Jehovah Rapha, who knows the exact diagnosis and how to fix it…Thankfully I felt better…

At clicking in of Christmas Day I was at work…the clock ticked on, couldn’t wait for morning to come…soon it was dawn, it was so refreshing to see the night sky lighting up through the window…Got busy winding up work for the night duty praying that nothing comes up that would delay me at the office past my shift time…

Thankfully, my colleague taking over shift got to the office early. Leaving the office, I hoped to catch a PSV as fast so that I could get home early…Well, I was working over night and the sensible thing to do was to go rest, but I wasn’t thinking of anything like that…rather, mind was on how I would go prepare myself and head to Church for Christmas Service, which I couldn’t imagine missing…having missed the Christmas Eve Concert.

As I went to Church, my prayer was that I would stay fully alert…you know there comes time try as one might to stay alert one fails…

Going to Church was the right thing for me to do, I got there long before service began and it was exciting right from the moment I got there, a beautiful day…and with all the ‘Merry Christmas’ salutations…

Service was so enjoyable right from the start… I didn’t even slightly doze …I just couldn’t afford that! After service, it was time to briefly meet a few of my Church friends before going back to the house…

There was lunch to be served at Church, but just couldn’t wait…I had to get home soonest, catch some sleep for soon it would be time to go to the office for me…

I got home at around 13:30hrs…and the only thing I could do was sleep….15:30hrs was to find me waking up to prepare to go to work…given the distance I have to travel to the office…

I got to the office a short while before 18hrs and that’s the time I made some tea and had it with some bread…as breakfast, cum lunch since I hadn’t had anything to eat all day…

…Work could now begin…another long night ahead…Christmas day Night at the office…

That is how my Christmas day was…

Despite all that, I’ve been so glad, I think this was the best Christmas for me…with assurance that the reason for the season is with me, I’m good…

Just me and my Lord…enough reason to be joyful…

**To you reading this, I hope you had a Merry Christmas, the way you like it…God bless you**

Family Fun Sunday…Winning Team…!

Fun is enjoying yourself/ves and being rewarded for it…That’s what happens at PBC family fun Sunday…Participation in every way is points awarded…be it in being in the field, or cheering your team…points are earned on how you do it…points are lost by lack of participation…

After all the competitive games, came the rewarding session…there were various categories of awards for the families…some making sense others…’funny’ sounding…leaving the audience with ‘what’s that supposed to mean?’ kind of questions…all the same…the cheering went on…before the ultimate Year’s winner was announced

Bethel, my family was awarded for being the NOISIEST family for the entire Family Month …. Muhahaha!

With eager anticipation, the announcement of the overall winning family was awaited…the person to do this announcement has really mastered the art of keeping people in suspense and going round and round before making the final announcement…

He read the points earned by a number of families in the tune of millions and repeated it enough times for us to get the numbers right!!! Yet, the ultimate winners were yet to be announced! Interesting as it can be…it can get to a point of irritating the audience…

The moment came that the winning team was announced as BETHEL!!!! The song and dance that we broke  into, as members from our family flocked the center field to get the trophy…Oh my!!!! …and as soon as that happened the rest was history…Fact…BETHEL carried the day!

Oh, how wonderful it is to be in the winning team!! I remember last year I was in  the Red Family : Beryth which emerged winners then…

I thank God for the Family Month; Family Week; culminating with the Family Fun Sunday.

Blessings and Big ups to the organizing team of the events. Grateful for Parklands Baptist Church Family at large…Awesome

Family Fun Sunday…The Day…!

On Family Fun Sunday, we have Church on open grounds, with each Family at their tents decorated with the family’s color. The whole place screams out festival!! It’s a day of fun, games and lots of cheer.

I set off early for the grounds where the event was being held, looking the part head to toe….and ready to take part and be part of the occasion…that’s just me…all clad in my Family Color of choice for this year- Green: Bethel Family

First things first; I got into assisting put up décor at Bethel’s Family section…when it gets to this kind of activity, extra hands are always very welcome…you can never be so many…everyone available is welcome to participate…after all, it’s said ‘many hands make light work’…plus it’s fun doing things together as a family…making suggestions here and there hence contributing to the final outcome…

By 10 a.m, we were in time all set for the official start off of the event…just a few touch ups…

Looking around, the whole place was a hub of activity, the media team busy with the Cameras capturing moments and recording every moment right from that early start, children were at their area having their play time…the band busy doing the mixes…

Praise and Worship session was right off the hook, the beats, the music set the entire fields a boom…

Soon it was time for the day’s Word, on this  day, our Senior Pastor, Pastor Ambrose keeps it short and sweet…the rest of the day is for many in line activities…fun competitive games, lots of song and dance…but before then…there’s lunch…

Each family usually have their caterers, food and drinks are in plenty…However, one’s doesn’t necessarily have to serve at their family’s station…you know…at times, food looks sweeter in the other’s pots/plates…and so, one may be tempted to go there..

After Lunch it was time for sports, games and all…for the rest of the afternoon…that calls for lots of cheering of one’s team…Cheering takes some  of us to days gone, in High School Tournaments and Sports days when we’d go wild in cheering…memories come live…redoing it again…some things can never be forgotten…like the cheering songs….

The Emcees for the day really did a good job keeping the audience all interested hence setting a great mood through and through…tired as one may get, the psyching up keeps one active…

What an afternoon it was…!! Awesome, wonderful times are made of such…At some point, I just posed to whisper a thanksgiving prayer that I belong to Parklands Baptist Church fraternity…where such a season and days like this happen…

Then came the day’s Climax….to continue

Overstretched…Need To Rest

Ever been struggling to stay awake?
Eyes heavy they spontaneously close themselves…
You arise and stretch a bit, but it doesn’t help…
The body feels like a mass, so heavy…
Every joint and muscle seems to be aching…
The slightest task seems so difficult to work at…

When it comes to that,
The body is like announcing,
It’s stretched to its limit
and need  some rest
As it can only take so much…

**As I do this, I’m at that state where the whole of me is so fatigued…I can’t wait to get to the house and get some hours of sleep. I so need it…Until I have that, I can’t be any effective at whatever I may be doing…

What A Friday Night…!

It’s been the Family Week following the Family Month that began on November 6th. There have been various activities over this period every weekend, and during some weekdays.

In line with these activities, yesterday 9th December evening was the day set for ‘Goat eating’. An evening of celebration, with Family at Church one is associating self with at this time of year.

Last year I missed this fun evening so this year I purposed to attend.

In a long while, I haven’t left the office as early as before sunset…but for today I had to…I needed to get to Church for that function….

Going to Church, the excitement was so much in the air one would feel it way even before getting to the Church Gate!

The place was all set up, with each family set up at their place, under the amazing night sky, with the sections surrounding a very big bonfire…It was all praise and dance to our King around the bonfire followed by a Word for the evening from our Pastor …Wow!! That was Church Service of a kind!

Then came the time…food time…Each family had a service point. Meat both Stewed and Roast was in plenty…after all , it was ‘Goat Eating’…whether it was goat meat for real, I’m not sure…what matters it was meat…

There was entertainment from youths …surely there is talent among our youths…

I wished I could stay until late night, when the function would end…but I had to leave quite early…

What a night it was!! It was an evening of a kind…Church at Parklands Baptist is so much fun…I thank God for the entire PBC family.

Looking forward to tomorrow Sunday 11th November, the Family Day….the Climax for the Family Month…

Ladies Annual Breakfast…The Day…

It’s a day/morning eagerly looked forward to. This year, the day turned to be Sunday 27th November… The event set to happen at one of the best land mark hotels in the city, the Sarova Panafric Hotel.

The day dawned,
The D day..
Early I arose,
Well I prepared,
All very excited,
For the day ahead

…I set out for the Hotel as we agreed to meet early, a while before the function began, just to ensure all was well…before the guests arrived…

The venue was beautifully put up, warm and inviting décor all around saying volumes…

As soon as attendees settled, breakfast started being served as early as before 8a.m, and everything was in plenty…Fruits, Juices, Beverages, Cakes, Breads, Cakes, Meats …all in their varieties…They kept flowing for the entire morning as the function progressed…

The moment came, the prime time for our speaker of the day, a renowned Woman of God. The Word she spoke was the message of the day, meant for such a time like this…

All went as planned. Soon it was guest leaving at their own pleasure..

For some of us, those in the organizing team, it was almost an all day event, Breakfast turned lunch and way past lunch hour…Definitely a day wonderful and well spent.

With the Ladies’ Annual breakfast happening,
It is a wrap on the ladies events for the year…

Thank You Lord for the far that you’ve seen and brought us through……
In a celebratory mood…we joyfully sung Don Moen’s ‘We’ve come to Bless Your Name’

So Fast…

The Year is coming to an end, and so fast, it appears…I can hardly believe that it’s already less than 10 (ten) days to end of November!

Yesterday was the 3rd Sunday of November, already 3rd Sunday into the Family month…Next Sunday, 27th November, is a very significant date on the Ladies Ministry Calendar, when we’ll be having our annual Ladies Breakfast at Sarova Panafric Hotel. It’s a day to look forward to…That means we’ll be missing service at Church, as we have a ladies’ service at the Hotel, as we fellowship over Breakfast…Gladly, Family Sunday is set for 11th December, hence there’s at least a Sunday for the fun at Church…before the Family Sunday D-day

November…Family Month…!

November is a month to be looked forward to, on Parklands Baptist Church Calendar, right from the beginning of the Year. It’s the month dubbed ‘Family Month’, goes on to ‘Family Week’ in the last week November which may flow into first week of December, finally culminating on ‘Family Sunday’ on the first or second Sunday of December.

It’s a month filled with fun activities. Our usually very lively Church becomes all the more exciting and celebratory mood is all over. The Church Décor goes a notch higher as every family, with their color, goes ahead to decorate a section of the Church, where ‘Family Members’ sit during service to cheer on the family as the competitive activities are slotted in at some point during service.

Sunday, 6th November, saw the launch of this year’s ‘Family Month’. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it to Church on that day, thanks to work related matters I had to attend to. On the day Family Day is launched, congregants are to choose family to belong to. Each family is identified by a color and a name. The colors are usually, Red, Green, Yellow, Purple and Blue, while the name to go with the color changes each year based on what the Church Year Theme has been.

Having missed the launch of family Month, I felt real bad missing out all the fun!

Come last Sunday, 13th November, I got to Church, and was yet to choose which family to belong to this time round. Last year, I was in the Red team, going by the name ‘Beryth’ : Lord our Covenant, which turned out to be the winning team. I tremendously enjoyed myself last year, being part, and playing part of the family through and through. Given that my wardrobe is quite red, I had red attire throughout the month/ all Sundays. I was very red…’Lady in Red’ head to toe, come the Family day.

On Sunday, I was in a green dress and so I chose to be with the Green team…Yesterday, I had to buy a green scarf, as to have something green in color besides my bracelet.…With Green accessories, I was good to go…for today Sunday 20th November…It’s just like me to fully participate, be and feel part of something I choose…So today I settled for the green team, I didn’t feel like changing….

The Green team is going by the name ‘Bethel’ : God’s House…. I love that…brings to mind the ‘Don’t you know your body is the temple of the Lord verse…’

The competitive activities and questions /team answer session were so fun filled. They so livened up my day which had otherwise started at a low note…

I was alert in good time; however it turned out to be a chilly rainy morning, one of those days you wonder whether to arise or just keep warm in bed. But the thought of just lazing in bed or around the house on a Sunday morning doesn’t go well with me…I got out of bed despite the weather, prepared myself and headed to Church for first service which usually begins at 8:30a.m. I stayed in  for fisrt part of second service which begins at 11:30a.m; at least to experience the Family Month celebrations…could have wanted to stay in Church for all service and even till late afternoon, but couldn’t since I was to work later in the day.

All in all, I’m so glad to have been to Church today….
