A Grand Send Off…

A convoy as long,
Graced the road,
From the City,
Headed to the burial place…

At the meeting venue,
People were as many,
Many had to brave,
The bright scorching sun,
The tents couldn’t be enough…

All gathered for a cause,
Sending off the deceased…

All went as planned,
Finally the time came,
The moment of the day,
Putting the casket,
Who it bore,
Into the grave,
Covering with soil followed,
The mood all around,
As somber as it could get…
Well covered,wreaths laid,
It was each one’s turn,
To pay last respects,
A white rose in hand…

A send-off so Grand,
In every way thinkable,
It was, for someone,
So dear to many…

That’s How it ends,
On this earth,
This side of life,
But,
That isn’t where it ends…

Yes,
From here she’s passed on,
Though memories live on,
However,
There’s a living anticipation,
Of a joyous re-union,
In higher better places….

For now,
It’s farewell, goodbye,
Till we meet again…

With a lot of details you know to describe this dramatic event in a poem. I find it very beautiful, full of reverence, respect and hope. It is valuable to read!

If it can be written in prose,
It can also be written in verse…
That’s like one of my mantras…

Composed this one while traveling way back home from the funeral…there was nothing else on my mind other than the day’s happenings…hence this….
