Believe in yourself

On your face,
Doors may have been slammed,
Windows alike,
In utter disregard

But,
Believe in yourself,
Even if no one else does

Enough regret mails,
You may have received,
Other correspondence go,
Without response,
Directly or indirectly,
Implying,
You are not qualified,
For that coveted post

But,
Believe in yourself,
Even if no one else does

You may have been dismissed,
On grounds of,
‘Not good enough’,
Other reasons ,
You may not comprehend

But,
Believe in yourself,
Even if no one else does

Some have avoided you,
Friendships have been lost,
Relationships gone sour,
On basis that,
You don’t fit,
You don’t meet,
Their standards

But
Believe in yourself,
Even if no one else does

Disservice,
You’ve received,
‘cuz of your looks,
Your appearance,
You’ve been despised

But,
Believe in yourself,
Even if no one else does

Things you’ve done,
Done them well,
With keenness,
Delivering result,
No one recognized,
Efforts went unappreciated,
Instead,
Negative criticism

But,
Believe in yourself,
Even if no one else does

Suggestions you have raised,
Opinions you have aired,
Ideas you have shared,
Have been disapproved,
Unaccepted,
Down-rightly ignored,

But,
Believe in yourself,
Even if no one else does

You’ve been hurt,
You’ve been sad,
Your joy stolen,
Hopes and dreams,
Seemingly shattered

But,
Believe in yourself,
Even if no one else does

Even if no one else does,
Keep believing in yourself,
Believe in Him,
Him who’s above all,
Believe He got a plan,
A plan for your welfare,

All that has been,
The hurt, the pain,
The demeaning,
Will turn out,
To be for your good

He’ll see you through,
He’ll get you around,
At last,
Victory shall be yours
All will be well

Until then,
Keep on believing…

Felicity, I would like to feature this poem in either October or November on my Poetic License series. Once a month I post great poetry that I find by searching blogs such as yours. If you allow me to use your poem, you will get full credit and a link back to your site.

Three times a year I will also be combining the previous four months into one large magazine style post. If you don’t mind please let me know. If you would like to see an example, the first magazine issue of the last trimester of 2010 was posted on January 6th (http://morningerection.wordpress.com/2011/01/06/the-new-tri-annual-poetic-license-magazine/) with the poems from Sept-Dec of 2010.

Here is the link to the January Poetic License (http://morningerection.wordpress.com/2011/01/03/poetic-license-5/) if you would like to see it before you decide. Thank you for your consideration, regardless of your decision.

I actually have two spots left for September so it will be posted on Sept. 5th. Thank you very much for allowing me to feature your poem on my site. I will let you know again as the date approaches. In addition your poem will be featured in the magazine in January 2012.

By the way, April is National Poetry Month and I am featuring poetry the entire month. If you would like another poem featured just email it to me. Take care.

Once again, thank you very much for picking my poem.
As you can see, this is a very young blog as per now, and having an audience appreciate my writing is awesome, and very encouraging for me to keep at it.
        Cheers!
